Perhaps, you have been thinking about just that. What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is not what you think, but what you feel. Hypnosis is that certain feeling that you experience as you shift from the Beta State of brain wave activity to that of the Alpha State of brain wave activity. So what are we talking about? Brain wave activity is measured by an encephalogram which is a valuable instrument to measure brain wave activity in c.p.s., cycles per second. When your brain shifts from Beta to Alpha what is happening is that your brain wave cycles per second decreases from approximately 14-33 c.p.s., to that of 8-12 which is called Alpha.
This state can be perceived by you as a relaxed feeling in your body. When you learn how to do this you can only imagine the good news it brings to your stressful day. The opportunity to relieve stress without giving up any control. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. What does this mean? The suggestions that the hypnotist gives you can be either rejected or accepted. It's up to you whether you want to take them in or ignore them.
When you do the hypnotic work you are already in the ready to accept mode. It is a matter of perseverance on your part and the creation of a hypnotic plan to accomplish your goals. Hypnosis, therefore is a combination of suggestions and the coming together of the reduced brain wave activity. It is in the Alpha State that new learning can occur, if you are willing to do it.
